Homeless Education
Supporting Students Experiencing Homelessness
Pennsylvania's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) Program
The ECYEH Program is designed to ensure that children and youth experiencing homelessness have access to a free and appropriate public education. It aims to remove barriers that may prevent students from enrolling in, attending, and succeeding at school.
The primary goal is to keep students' education as consistent and uninterrupted as possible during times of housing instability. The program also helps school districts understand their legal responsibilities, raises awareness of the unique needs of homeless students, and provides guidance on laws, policies, and practical strategies for school staff.
